Memorandum book, 1806-1930.

On the inside of the front cover, and on the page of 30 March, appears the autograph signature, address and date of the father of the novelist, "Nathaniel Hathorne of Salem..., 1806". On the half-title appears the signature of the novelist, "Nathaniel Hathorne, Raymond, Maine, 1822." On the lower half of the half-title appear the autograph signatures, addresses, and dates of the novelist's sister, "E.M. Hawthorne, Salem, Tuesday, September 14, 1852, " and his son, "Julian Hawthorne, England, 1875." On page 1 January is Julian's daughter, "Hildegarde Hawthorne (Oskison), Stanford University, Calif., July 18, [year not decipherable]." A few other pages have notes of dollar amounts in ink, and the appearance of pencil notes which have been erased.
